ARTIST JOE BURNS EXHIBITS AT
THE MANHATTAN ART & ANTIQUES CENTER
The Manhattan Art & Antiques Center features the work of artist, Joe Burns in Gallery #30 now through October 30th. The solo show by the New York City artist includes large hyper-realistic oil on canvas triptych and diptych paintings. Each of the paintings is accompanied by the artist’s brief texts, which he describes as “poetic vignettes”. Alden James, former president of the National Arts Club, observed, “To view Joe Burns’ paintings is to be altered.” Burns has had five previous exhibitions at the National Arts Club.
Joe Burns was born in New York and graduated with a BFA from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. He studied under Chaim Gross at New York’s Educational Alliance Art School. His interest in contemporary poetry was sparked by studies with Pearl London at the New School. Burns has also taught art at the Dalton School, Phoenix House, Hart Island and the Hudson Guild.
