It is a good season for firsts in the museum world. In addition to Picasso Black and White which is the first exhibit to focus on Picasso’s penchant for monochrome (opening today, Oct. 5, 2012, at the Guggenheim), the Frick Collection announces an exhibition of Renaissance master Piero della Francesca, the first to be on display in America. The exhibition will run from Feb. to May 2013. “He is one of the great geniuses of light and color that is unmatched by his contemporaries,” said Nathaniel Silver, a guest curator at the Frick Collection, where he has organized “Piero della Francesca in America.” Learn more about the upcoming Pierra della Francesca exhibition in the New York Times.
