A highly important and monumental pair of Sèvres-style porcelain jardinieres / vases, mounted in the finest ormolu. Most definitely commissioned for a royal family in Paris.

Eugene Poitevin is recorded as a painter on “pa^te tendre” in the style of Sieffert and Malpass, both formerly of the Se`vres manufactory, in the “New Pottery” section of the 4 January 1883 issue of The Art Interchange, New York, vol. X, no. 1.
Each body is molded with three large cartouches finely painted one side in the manner of boucher with putti either emblematic of summer or emblematic of love, the other two sides with amatory and musical trophies, all reserved by gilt trellis, supported by three tall foliate scroll feet above rouge marble bases.
Measures: 54″ high x 26″ wide x 26″ deep.
