Reciting Kiddush: The First Cup Of Jewish Holy Days
Solid silver Kiddush cup, American, circa 1970. Rosalie Clauson Gallery
Today marks the start of Passover, one of the most important Jewish festivals that commemorate Jewish liberation from slavery in ancient Egypt. The Seder, the ritual feast that marks the start of Passover, is begun with making kiddush “to sanctify the day.” Kiddush, which is Aramaic for Holy, is recited over a silver goblet containing wine. We at The Manhattan Art & Antiques Center wish those who celebrate a wonderful holiday.
