Father’s Day is coming up Sunday, June 15, but it’s hard to deny that men get the short end of the stick when it comes to parental celebrations. Following Mother’s Day both in the calendar year and in its founding, Father’s Day was not instituted as a national holiday until 1972 (some 40+ years after Mother’s Day had become an established holiday). Father’s Day was originally founded in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd, the daughter of William Jackson Smart, who raised her and her five siblings alone after her mother’s death. Mrs. Dodd struggled for many years to get the celebration recognized, so in honor of fathers, who are just as deserving of outpourings of love and presents, we share some of our favorite gifts for gentlemen of every taste.
